Behind the Travels

Hey, I'm Vivi!

I'm the girl who will happily spend hours figuring out what neighborhood you should stay in, which restaurant is actually worth it, how to squeeze six things into a day without making you miserable, and what you absolutely don't need to waste your money on.

"Basically... I'm the friend you call when you say: 'Okay, we're going on a trip. Where do we even start?'"

I fell in love with travel after my first trip to Puerto Rico 🌴. That trip made me forget everything going on back home — it was such a stress reliever and a reminder of how healing travel can be. From the rainforest to the beaches to the food (don’t even get me started on the mofongo 😍), Puerto Rico showed me how much a trip can recharge your soul.

That's why I created Travels by Vivi — to be the travel bestie you can turn to when you want an amazing trip without spending 47 hours planning it yourself.

Why Travel Insurance is Your Ultimate Trip Essential ✈️🛡️

Travel Smart & Protected

Why Travel Insurance is Non-Negotiable

Protect your budget, your peace of mind, and your hard-earned vacation memories.

We’ve all been there: you’ve spent months researching hotels, curating outfits, and mapping out the perfect itinerary. The last thing you want to think about while booking your dream trip is what could go wrong.

I used to skip travel insurance all the time, thinking, "Nothing is going to happen, it’s just a quick trip!" But after enough flight delays, lost luggage incidents, and unexpected schedule changes, I learned the hard way that travel insurance isn't an extra expense—it's non-negotiable protection for your budget and peace of mind.

Here is why having travel insurance in your back pocket is the ultimate travel flex ✨

1. It Saves You Money When Plans Change

Life happens! Whether you wake up sick the morning of your flight, face a family emergency, or your resort has to close due to severe weather, trip cancellation coverage ensures you get your non-refundable money back.

2. Medical Coverage Abroad is No Joke

Did you know your standard health insurance at home often offers zero coverage once you cross international borders? If you twist an ankle on a cobblestone street in Rome or end up with food poisoning in Bali, medical evacuation and emergency care costs can easily run into thousands of dollars out-of-pocket.

3. Luggage Delays Won't Ruin Your Vibe

There is nothing worse than landing at your destination only to find out your suitcase took a detour to another continent. Most policies provide a daily stipend for essential toiletries, clothes, and charger cables while the airline tracks down your bag, plus payout coverage if your luggage is gone for good.

4. Missed Connections & Travel Delays

When an airline delays your flight overnight due to mechanical issues or weather, travel insurance steps in to cover your unexpected hotel stay, meals, and transit.

The Bottom Line

Think of travel insurance like seatbelts or sunscreen: you hope you don't desperately need it, but you'll be so glad you have it when you do. For usually just 4% to 8% of your total trip cost, it's a small price to pay to protect your hard-earned vacation memories.

🍂 Best Places to Travel in September

Monthly Travel Inspiration

Your Travel Bestie's September Destination Guide ✈️

Discover the ultimate shoulder season sweet spots—fewer crowds, better flight deals, and perfect weather.

September is hands-down the ultimate "shoulder season" sweet spot. The chaotic summer crowds have packed up, flight prices drop, and the weather gives us the absolute best of both worlds.

Whether you’re trying to hold onto summer forever, chase peak sweater weather, or sneak away for a cozy trip with your favorite person, I’ve got you covered. Here are the top spots to add to your September travel wish list!

Shoulder season secrets: lower rates, golden hour light, and room to breathe ✨

☀️ For Warm Weather

San Diego, California

Avg temp: 65–75°F

I’d visit Coronado Beach and the world-famous San Diego Zoo! It’s warm, sunny, and much cheaper than summer school-holiday pricing. Plus, September actually brings some of the clearest, warmest beach days of the year without the oppressive heat waves.

🍂 For Fall Vibes

Vermont, USA

Avg temp: 50–70°F

If you want early autumn foliage, crisp mornings, and pure rustic charm, head to Vermont in late September. Take a road trip down Route 100, go apple picking at a local orchard, and grab fresh cider donuts. The maple leaves start turning brilliant shades of red and gold, making it the ultimate cozy getaway.

💕 For a Romantic Getaway

Santorini, Greece

Avg temp: 70–82°F

September in Santorini is pure magic. The scorching July/August heat cools down into perfect golden-hour weather, and you can actually walk through Oia’s cobblestone streets without bumping shoulder-to-shoulder with tour groups. Book a cliffside suite with a private plunge pool, sip local wine at sunset, and enjoy post-summer serenity with your favorite person.

Travel Planning Guide

5 Essential Questions to Ask Before Your Next Road Trip 🚗💨

The ultimate checklist to build a flexible itinerary, stick to your budget, and enjoy the open road.

Scenic Open Road Trip

Hey Everyone! Here is a little list of questions to ask yourself while planning a road trip. I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me!

"It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey... and having a solid plan so you don't run out of snacks or gas!" ✨

1. What are your destinations, dates, and travel crew?

This is the most important piece because it defines your entire experience. Is this somewhere you’ve been dying to visit, or a spot you want to revisit to finish exploring? Most importantly—are these people who will make your trip more enjoyable?

2. What is your budget?

You know your budget best and what you’re willing and able to spend on necessities, activities, and entertainment. Accommodation, gas, and food are your baseline necessities—determine what you want to allocate to each before mapping out extras.

💡 Best Tool: Roadtrippers lets you plug in your starting point and stops to find accommodations, hidden gem attractions, and food along your route—plus filter by price range!

3. Where will you stay along the way?

You have so many options: camping, hostels, hotels, motels, or vacation rentals. Remember to book key dates in advance so you aren't left stranded!

  • HipCamp — Perfect if you want to camp or stay in unique outdoor stays.
  • HostelWorld — Great for social, budget-friendly hostel stays.
  • Airbnb — Ideal for renting full private homes or cozy cabins.

4. Whose vehicle are you taking?

Are you driving your own car or getting a rental? If using your own, get it serviced ahead of time! Double-check your lights, tire pressure, wipers, and oil level—and never leave home without a functioning spare tire.

5. What do you want to see along the route?

Create a loose itinerary! Road trips are unpredictable—traffic, weather, and spontaneous roadside stops will change your timeline. Leave wiggle room, but keep a bucket list of top spots you definitely don't want to miss.

Pro-Tip for the Road 🗺️

Google Maps is your best friend! Use it to preview route stops and estimated travel times. Always add 2 to 3 hours of extra buffer time for food runs, gas breaks, and quick photo ops. Oh, and don't forget to download a killer playlist!
